Keynote1 : Online Experimentation in line with the Internet of Things

Maria Teresa Restivo has a degree in Solid State Physics and a PhD in Engineering Sciences. Her research and teaching activities, are accomplished within the Automation, Instrumentation and Control Group of the Mechanical Engineering Department (DEMec) of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP). These activities are related with the intelligent control of laboratory/industrial systems, development of sensors also for the health area, virtual instrumentation, online experimentation, wireless sensorization, as well as the use of emergent technologies in training and in education. She is author (or co-author) of articles, book chapters and books. She has been awarded prizes in R&D areas. She has been project leader and team member at national and international levels. She has supervised a number of theses. She has four patents, one licensed and one IP pending. She is coordinator of the System Integration and Process Automation Research Unit within the Associated Laboratory for Energy, Transports and Aeronautics (LAETA). She is member of scientific boards of FEUP, DEMec and LAETA. She is EC Member of the International Society for Engineering Education (IGIP) and has the International Engineering Educator (ING-PAED IGIP) qualification. She is institutional member of GOLC. She is Individual and Institutional Member of the VIT@LIS network and of the ELTF Task Force - EUNIS (European University Information Systems Organization) and of "IT in Engineering Education" and "Tools to Develop Higher Order Thinking Skills", both working groups of SPEE (Portuguese Society for Engineering Education). She is Executive Committee of International Association of Online Engineering and Institutional Member of DANOTEC, Portugal

João Correia de Freitas

Keynote 2 : e-Learning with Moodle at FCT/UNL: are we there yet?

João Correia de Freitas is a Biologist by training from the Faculdade de Ciências, Universidade de Lisboa and PhD in Education by the Universidade Nova de Lisboa. He is Assistant Professor at Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia college of that university, both on Education Technology, e¬-Learning and Science Education, teaching at masters and doctorate levels and tutoring thesis on these domains. He is also full researcher at the UIED - Unidade de Investigação Educação e Desenvolvimento (Research Unit on Education and Development) in the ICT on Education  and Training  branch, with several published works both as author and co-author and frequently invited to lectures on the subject of ICT in Education. Since 2007 he is also head of the Laboratório de e-Learning (e-learning laboratory) at FCT and a In-service Teacher Trainer for ICT in Education.
He was a secondary school teacher from 1979 till 1988 when he joined the university as a Invited Teacher Assistant. Form 1985 to 2007 he was heavily involved in several national initiatives on ICT in education: as node UNL coordinator to Projecto MINERVA(1988-1994), as head of unit of uARTE - Programa Internet na Escola (Internet at School, 1996-2002) and as head manager to CRIE of the ministery of education  (CRIE – taskforce on computers, networks and Internet in Schools, 2005-2007).
He was founder and present president of EDUCOM – portuguese association of educational telematics, collaborates with APDSI – Portuguese association to the advancement of the information society and form 2014 vice-president of the Biologists Professional Societey. Since 1992 he belonged to parant school assocations where he presently acts as advisor.
